Tight Lines on the Agivey
The Agivey river rises in the Sperrin mountains of Co. Derry and during the summer months, enjoys a run of salmon equal to any river in Ireland.
Top Irish angler Bert Atkins from Garvagh, takes us on an all action fishing trip along this famous river, hooking and landing no less than 7 salmon, and ofcourse there's always the ones that get away.
The film has good background information on the river environment, the local fishing club, the Agivey anglers association and the life-cycle of the salmon. Bert also talks about fly-tying and angling techniques. In addition he has important things to say about the extent to which game angling maybe under threat from agricultural activities, pollution and commercial fishing.
